Saralas: Session 54

1 Elient, Morning

• Min has just turned the golden key
• On the wall to the north, beyond the chest, a portal appears.
• Through the portal we can see the thrones above
• Min runs through the portal. We follow and make it through outside back to the ring of chairs
• Looking behind us, we can't see the portal on this side, there does not appear to be a way to return, and the ghosts are not present
• We discuss what to do next, it seems like going to Targos to ask around and try to find Wodna might be the best plan, but there are a lot of concerns about still being wanted, about the time it will take.
• We set out for Targos given that if we go overland we will probably be deep in exhaustion
• As we start moving, we see a frost giant climbing the hill
• It walks among the torches. It's a woman, and in her hands she is carrying an icy chain with an anvil bolted to it.
• The frost giant points at Korag, who is holding the horn, and says "you have something of mine"
• She is not interested in talking and wants to fight
• She is a very strong opponent, does enormous damage
• We get her nearly dead and she drinks a healing potion
• We get her low again and Karthos tries to convince her to stop. She feigns surrender
• And throws Korag at Resda
• Finally we kill her
• Min finds a map of the immediate area and some basic survival items
• The map doesn't show anything much that we don't know
• We heal Baerwin, who was hurt a lot, and try again to make our way
• Resda collects some hair and toenails from the frost giant
• We travel through the bitter cold towards Targos. Late in the afternoon a blizzard rolls up. We hunker down and the storm passes, but we've lost half a day of travel.
• We are in a relatively open and desolate area of tundra
• We press on. On the distance towards the horizon we see blue lights. We avoid them, going around as well as we can
• We make up the lost time by traveling through the night, and arrive in Targos, very late on the night of the 2nd
• There are no wanted posters, it sounds like Wodna may have succeeded
• I head to the tavern to ask around
  • The talk is unsurprisingly of the adventuring party that was slaughtered. The news of the party's good works was one of the few rays of hope
  • Nabira Moorskull was an easthaven fisher who owned an enchanted fishhook that could catch magical fish. Some gnolls killed her and took the hook. A fisherman
  • We hear of a woman who came searching for the slaughtered adventuring party. They describe a woman matching Elodie's description.
  • They don't know if she is still in town, it was some days past
  • They tell me where Garret lives
• I make my way over to Garrett's house
  • There is a dog barking inside
  • Keegan opens the door
  • They have seen Elodie. She came looking for a tall elf. They kind of bicker on where she went. Keegan thinks she went to Termalaine. Garret thinks she was headed for Bryn Shander.
  • It must have been a few days ago.
  • I thank them and head to the inn
