• We decide to go scope out the castle but we need to talk to Wodna before we go
• We ask around and the innkeeper suggests she might be at the bank or at Town Hall
• We go to Town Hall and find her looking at the black ice statue
• She's thinking about taking it off the Town's hands
• "Think about how many weather machines I could make out of this"
• She knows about the dragon made of black ice as well, and thinks this is what they were searching for in Easthaven
• The wizard is a necromancer, remember the bodies that were down in the basement
• She has apparently been following us to keep an eye on us, as a stone gargoyle
• We decide to try to locate the book and be more sneaky and steal it rather than give the black ice to the duergar
• We travel uneventfully to Caer-Dineval. Nothing new in town, no new news. Speaker is apparently still convalescing in the keep.
• We head up to the keep and are greeted by Kadroth
• We talk for a while, tell tales about our adventures.
• Karthos asks if they were able to translate the notes from Duergar. He says yes, they were able to translate, and it was a note saying for the Duergar to remain hidden until the dragon attacks.
• What dragon? he asks? So we explain. He asks if we know when, but mostly what we know is soon.
• He calls someone over and suggests they all be on high alert within the keep, ready for attack. Maybe not great for us. Oh well.
• The cultists have posted people around the hallways and at the various arrow-slits around the fortress. The watches are being kept professionally and their weapons are in good condition. They are ready to fight.
• Rudra asks Kadroth if they can speak alone. They go off to have a conversation and she wants to ask him about where she came from and where the tieflings came from.
• Suddenly the albino tiefling walks up. She knows everything, apparently. How fucked are we?
• She says Wodna wants the book so she can take it to a library to trade it for another book.
• She confirms that they are trying to break their god out of its prison
• She needs the winter to end, and her purpose aligns with the cultists. She doesn't love that Karthos says "like being a Red Wizard of Thay".
• She advises us to leave, it sounds like a threat.
• She clearly hates Wodna. She tells us that her ability to move so quickly and teleport is a Netherese artifact.
• Avarice is her name
• The famous library is heavily guarded and has very strong wards. It is impossible to teleport into it or plane shift or anything. There is no way to get in our out without going through the proper channels.
• She mentioned a place, called Yitherin. A fabled netherese city that fell from the sky thousands of years ago into the ice, where it has become entombed.
• Avarice says that each night Auril rides the sky painting the aurora. She thinks it is a powerful magic spell that is keeping the unnatural winter. She rides a roc.
• On the Duergar, we have a map with a location marked on the spine of the world. This is probably the place to start.
