- Termalaine, morning
- Masthew is probably at The Eastside
- Karthos says there is a voice pulling him towards the south. Somewhere south of us in Icewind Dale. He's not sure how far.
- He's pretty insistent it's a distress signal of some kind. I'm cautious. Will we get paid?
- Karthos says he'll give me his share of this last quest
- We meet up with Masthew, who pays us the 80 gold he promised, which we split evenly. He didn't get eaten or attached or fall into something. He seems satisfied with what we're doing.
- We meet up with Ameria, who looks tired. She waves over to a man on the other side of the tavern and calls him over. Sylvester? He wants to silence the voices. So he can sleep. He offers us 250 gold. Min seems interested.
- Barkeep tells us to keep an eye out for an old black cabin. Gnome in Brynn Shander claims magical experiements are being performed there. Gnome's name is Copper and we'll find her at the house of the morning lord.
- A huge discussion of renting and buying dogs ensues. Oh my god.
- First to Targos, then to Easthaven
- Along the way to Targos we come across a white kobold wearing nearly no clothing. Resda calls hello. He says something in Draconic but no one can understand him. We wave as we pass by and enter Targos.
- Targos is surrounded by a wooden wall. Which extends to the lake to protect the boats. The water is frozen in the harbor, trapping many boats. Most towns make their living off the lakes, Targos is a fishing town. They harvest knucklehead trout from Maer Dualdon
- Triglio is the general store. Jestin Hunrae, a scarecrow-like fellow, runs the store. He fished the lake until his hand was crushed. He doesn't like people from Termalaine. I purchase a scrimshaw pipe and some tobacco from him for 3 gold.
- We head to a tavern, Three Flags Sailing. The fishermen stop here for a hot bowl of stew and an ale before going to bed. The fishers are cold and tired. Ethen Yarbroul runs the tavern. She fusses over the fishers as if they were her children. She is also known as Ma.
- She mentions that no one has seen the town speaker for a long time. No one has seen the speaker in a long time but suspicious people have been seen entering and leaving the castle at all hours.
- The nearest inn in the Luskan Arms. We buy a round of mead and I light my new pipe. After a round we head to the Luskan Arms.
- The inn is old, and is built to look like an inn that might be found in the City of Sails. Decor is nearly 200 years old. Sturdy walls but rotten floorboards. Proprieter Owenn Tarsenal is a quiet balding man sunken into a deep depression.
- He asks our names and puts them down in a book. This appears to be for the lottery. I pull Min aside and tell her "you're going to remove that page before we leave". She nods. "That whole book may disappear."
- We insult the Speaker who is clearly an asshole. When we get back we can't find the book. Doesn't matter. I'll set the town on fire if I have to.
- When we exit we hear the bark of a dog over the wind. The dog seems friendly, and leads us to the door of a modest dwelling. Keagan, a handsome man in his 30s, opens the door and races inside. When he sees us, his smile fades and he asks us if we want to come in.
- Keagan serves us cider and tells us a story of his husband, who is from Neverwinter, loves the outdoors, and the mountains. He was hired to lead a group to Kelvin's Cairn. One of the dogs, the one we met, named Boy, was Garretts favorite.
- Garrett asks us to find his husband. He has a lot of faith in Garrett's survival skills, and suggests we stop at the expedition shop in Caer-Konig, the last place he probably was.
- Resda is convinced that the aurora is the effect of a spell, and the reason it comes and goes is because it fades and someone casts the spell again.
- We decide to leave Targos and head to Bryn Shander. If that town tries to mess with us it will burn.
