Clapperclaw is a small scarecrow about 3 feet high. He currently lives in Downfall, where he escaped to from the hag Granny Nightshade. He knows the way from Downfall to Thither, having previously made the journey.

Clapperclaw is a friend of Bun's. They are both magical creations of Granny Nightshade. Constructs, powered by the stolen souls of children, they never age.

When the Offensive Party met him, Clapperclaw had a head made of a gourd; however, he informed the party that his true head, that of a magnificent stag, was stolen, and asked them to get it back.
