24 Elient, Late Day

Stealing the Mythyllar

  • We are falling from the tower
  • Min casts featherfall. We come gently to the ground. Below us is the body of Avarice.
  • Resda searches Avarice, and finds her spellbook. It is covered in blood.
  • She also finds Avarice's staff of frost, and 700 gold. She pockets the gold. We suggest selling the staff.
  • We feel short on time, Resda and Min both want to find Wodna.
  • Korag sends her a message to meet her at the Mythyllar, and she responds "OK"
  • We make our way towards the Mythyllar, along the way we see a group of cultists trying to fight a flying skull. We hope he is keeping them busy.
  • We make our way to the Mythyllar, where Wodna appears from the shadows
  • "Are you ready? We have a window but it's going to be short."
  • "I've been ready for days, she says," shaking a bag. "Can you drop the force field?"
  • Baerwin can pass through it, but Wodna is unable to pass through.
  • "Can we try something?" I ask, and I take Wodna's hand, and we walk together through the force field.
  • Wodna takes the pylons out of her bag and sets them up around the Mythyllar
  • She touches one of them and says "Everyone stand back."
  • There is a light and a sudden clap of thunder, and Wodna and the Mythyllar and everything within a perfect sphere surrounding it is cut out of the area.
  • We debate getting out of here or exploring more. Baerwin wants to go to get the hammer from that first tower. We want to go. We are debating how to get out, whether to use the scroll of plane shift or to try to exit.
  • The trouble with the scroll is it is one-time use only.
  • We hear a scream in the distance which suddenly cuts short.
  • We do not know where the penguin is.
  • While we debate I put on my hat. I appear to be a handsome human man in his late 30s, tall and of noble bearing, with a trim brown beard and stylish brown hair.
  • We decide to run towards the Caves of Hunger, but Korag sends a message to our penguin friend asking where he is on the way. We hear no response.
  • We escape the city uneventfully. We make our way across the bridge.
  • As we are leaving, we look back, seeing two gargoyles fighting with the Lich in the distance.
  • As we leave, the Lich sees that the Mythyllar is missing. He lets out a horrible scream, shaking things and icicles fall from the ceiling behind us.
  • We make our way back through the Caves of Hunger and back out to Icewind dale.

Icewind Dale

  • I see Auril standing at the edge of some trees, in her female form. I poke Baerwin and say "Your god is here."
  • He walks towards her. Without saying anything, she points a finger at the glacier, which freezes shut once more. She is surprised, she says, that he kept his word.
  • "Of course, I always keep my word."
  • She asks if he would pledge his allegiance to her. "It would be my honor," he says. She touches him and disappears.
  • But will the perpetual winter stop? Baerwin claims that was her end of the bargain.
  • Since she casts the spell each night, I suggest we journey back to Easthaven and keep an eye on the skies at night.
  • For the first time in years, the Aurora is not visible. Auril has kept her word. By the time we make our way to Easthaven a few days later, temperatures have returned to normal, and we find Easthaven in a state of drunken, celebratory mayhem.

Epilogue

Min

Min wants to search for help for Bun. She travels down teh sword coast from town to town. Eventually finding herself in Waterdeep, she consulsts a number of Mystical people, searching for clues about Bun. Skant's reckoning on the matter appears to be right. Bun is some sort of a construct of an unknowable nature from the Fey, and his only chance may be to return to the Fey.

Baerwin

Baerwin travels through the thawing north to find the cultists in their keep. They are in disarray after many of them have been killed in Ythryn, as well as Avarice. Levistus has cut off all boons from them, and he has little trouble using his newfound powers from Auril to remove the cultists from the keep and frees the speaker, becoming an exhalted hero in the town.

Korag

Korag goes to check in on the Goliaths. The two clans are still fighting, and are not keen to see Korag. Seeing them as stubborn as he remembers, he leaves without pursuing further efforts at reconciliation. He then heads to a temple of Helm.

Resda

Resda searches for any sightings of her grandmother, as well as signs of any of us, the other us. She hears tales of strange things, but finds no evidence of her grandmother or our future selves. She does see a patch of new stone at Revel's end where they had to repair the rather large hole, and the guards are not eager to talk about it. They have been told to never speak of this incident again.

Karthos

Karthos travels the libraries, and discovered that the world mushroom is counterbalance to the world tree. It extends through all planes and into the underdark. The mushroom itself is located in its own plane of existence. The reality between the plains is thin in the Feywild, and so the influence of the world mushroom is found particularly strongly on that plain. He also finds that if a blight were to kill the world mushroom it would wreak havoc across all the plains, and such a blight occurred thousands of years ago

Saralas

I trek back to Neverwinter. Upon arriving home I find both Elodies making bread together, the shock of meeting having worn off after a few weeks. They are happy to see me, and though at first it was quite uncomfortable they have made their peace. Elodie prime confesses that she always wanted to be twins, and the town has come together to build a house for Elodie and the children. The town is joyful to hear the curse of the winter has been solved.
