Saralas: Session 14
15th Elesias, Morning
- We start in the Town Hall of Easthaven
- We meet Estevan Grebus, who is responsible for licenses and titles. Impatient, diminutive halfling with greasy hair
- He totals everything up including all the various guilds we would need to pay off for services. It's a long list.
- Something invisible shoves Min. We don't see what it is.
- Korag detects magic but can't see where it comes up.
- Karthos gets angry and throws in 200 gold and Resda puts in the rest. We leave but they have to come back in an hour to get the paperwork. Rudra put money in too.
- Karthos asks around for clerics, can't find him.
- Resda, Karthos, and Rudra are the only names on the licenses. That's fine.
- Karthos shows him the calling card but he doesn't know what it is. Until he's paid 20 gold. He mentions Monrovius, who lives behind the eastern butcher shop in the shops quarter, and who may know what he's looking for.
- We meet up with this supposed cleric, who says he can translate
- Nautiloid down. Emergency protocols enabled. Crew safe but vessel imperiled. Psi crystal needed. Come at once.
- The cleric also knows of Wodna. She had a document she wanted him to translate.
- We decide to go look for the missing fishers. On the way out of town we see three people tied up for the sacrifice. A woman, a man, and a small boy. I remark that it seems foolish to send us after 4 fishers when they're about to kill 3 people.
- We make our way up the coast of Lac Dinneshere. After a few miles we discover a rowboat bobbing in the water, not far from some 80 foot high cliffs. In the cliffs we see the mouths of four caves. One is at water level, the other cave entrances are 20-30 feet above water level.
- I search the boat. We find four oars, four sets of fishing tackle, a dozen empty mead bottles, and tracks leading to the southernmost cave.
- As we approach the caves three harpies fly down and attack. We kill two of them and the third flies off. We take a short rest.
- We try to follow the tracks to the cave entrances and see which cave entrance the men might have entered. I look into the cave that is at water level. We see a short ways in, but nothing remarkable.
- One of the cave entrances shows clear signs of wolf tracks. I suggest staying clear.
- We go in the northernmost cave. On the north fork we find some stick figures. Which show frost giants going to a hot springs, going upriver and then they drown themselves.
- I sketch the drawings in my journal.
- We go back down the passage to the next room on our left. The cave is empty except for three ice covered pillars composed of generic mineral deposits. I make a quick sketch.
- We go farther and find a junction. This goes to the second entrance in one direction. In the other direction there is a natural stone bridge, with an icy, slippery surface.
- Rudra and I both make it across, but Min slips partway. I manage to keep my footing and we catch her before she hits the water.
