Saralas: Session 50
21 Elesias
- As we enter Easthaven, we see a great crowd has gathered
- They are executing the red wizard Dzaan
- This distracts them from noticing our arrival
- Which may be good, Min notices there is a wanted poster with our descriptions on it. Why is that?
- The poster does not specify the crime, but the bounty is 125 gold
- It lists our names and descriptions
- Min uses her disguise kit to disguise herself. I pull up my hood.
- She wanders up to the tavern ask casually asks the bartender about the poster
- He is surprised she hadn't heard about the prison break at Revel's End. A group of adventurers apparently broke out a prisoner
- We didn't do this, but they seem to think it was us
- She also hears a rumor of feuding Goliath clans in the Spine of the World
- Korag points out that the Lord's Alliance is supposed to be in good with Revel's End
- We suggest heading out to look for Jarlmoot, but it's already evening
- Min offers to get rooms and then let us in the back way
- Min can sneak us in through the back.
- Resda and I go to the Seance invisibly. It is as we remember, but the guests are different from before.
- The lights illuminate guests sitting uncomfortably cross legged on the floor
- Thick frost forms on the windows, turning them opaque, and the candles go out one by one. Ronaldo, sensing that the white lady's spirit is close, urges the viewers to reach out to it.
- One viewer asks "what is the evil in our land in the 10 towns". On the frosted window, letters appear. We cannot see who or what is drawing the letters. The letters read Caer Dineval Cult
- Another person asks "how can he get food". The letters spell out "the hag's cauldron"
- A third person asks "how can I become wealthy" but to this there is no reply. After some minutes Rinaldo says he feels the spirit of the white lady has passed.
- I head to the common room, still invisible, and do my ranger in the corner routine.
- The gentleman from the Seance is in the room, talking about what he learned. The other person reveals he heard a story about a hag named Maude Chiselbone, who has a cauldron which can conjure enough stew to feed a starving town forever. The gentleman is inclined to not believe the story, but is visibly shaken by what he has seen.
- On my way back I notice a gargoyle perched over the charred remains of Dzann in the square. I may also see Hoot but I'm not sure. I make my way back to the inn.
- Another vivid dream, family around a kitchen table, beautiful dawn light coming in. I wake up feeling warm until I'm conscious and then a sense of dread settles in.
- Karthos hears the militia, they appear to be searching the inn room by room.
- Saralas grabs his pack and is out the door.
- Karthos polymorphs Korag into a mouse, then turns himself into a mouse.
- We regroup in the alley behind the inn, though Resda is still invisible.
- We gather the sleds and make our way out of town.
- How do we clear our name? Where do we start the search?
- Min, in disguise, heads back into town and goes all over town following rumors from person to person, eventually ending up in a basement of a large man with pictures of frost giants all over his room.
- He tells her that the 7 tribes of frost giants had a meeting area known as Jarlmoot, located at the top of a hill southwest of Bremen, south of the river. It is said that a great Treasure is stored there.
- Min is excited for treasure. The man is excited to have a female in his room. Has he heard of the bulletin board in town near the town square. He calls it a read-it and there might be more information there.
- The board is covered with notices and manifestos claiming the winter is caused by climate change, and how the orbit of the planet has shifted.
- Min reports back and we decide to head towards Bryn Shander
- As we travel along the road we come across the corpse of a coldlight walker. The upper torso only, as it slowly pulls itself towards us, gasping. Korag finishes it off. It's blinding blue light fades.
- We make our way to the outskirts of Bryn Shander. It is now late evening. Korag wants to make his way directly to the House of the Triad. We do see wanted posters in town.
- Militiamen and townspeople seem quite suspicious.
- We go to the House of the Triad and are received by the Priest. They give comfort to Korag as a follower of Helm.
- We talk with the priest and he wonders why the Lord's Alliance would lie. He suggests turning ourselves in.
- They agree to give us safe harbor but we must leave the next day.
- We ask the priests if there is any information on who escaped from the prison. Apparently a woman was broken out but no more details were given.
- We rest. Saralas does not dream anything at all.
- Min dreams she is tiny and held on by a chain to Bun's belt.
- Min unchains Bun, who zooms around the rafters before returning to Min
- We leave the room we stayed the night in, and wodna is sitting in the main room of the temple eating an apple.
- "We" apparently bought an anti-magic bomb from Wodna for 15,000 gold saying we needed to break someone out of Revel's end
- She keeps asking why we aren't at Citadel Abdar?
- Under the citadel and some distance away is an old netherese machine. "We" brought her a picture of this machine and asked how to activate the machine. She procured the black ice rod for "us" at great expense
- She then apparently bought "us" travel papers to go through the citadel (which we don't have)
- Moran Evergrow was the name, Resda's GM.
- She says maybe she can fake our deaths and the Lord's Alliance might stop looking then.
