Saralas: Session 55

Morning of the 3rd Elient, Targos

• A famous adventuring party was found massacred outside of town
• We sign the guest register with fake names, have rooms
• We head outside
• Korag offers to send a message to Elodie. He gets a cryptic response
• "Amid the world's vertebrae, where stone giants slumber, a concealed niche awaits, veiled by frost's breath, and moon's silent whisper"
• It sounds like the spine of the world, possibly where we found her before.
• We set out toward's Dougan's hole
• We notice amongst the trees outside Dougan's hole are glittering blue lights
• It appears to be the same color light we've seen of the Coldlight Walkers
• We could try to sneak past or take the long way around
• Resda decides to investigate what they are doing. She flies over to see
  • They are standing motionless amongst the trees, completely motionless
  • As she is taking this in, out of one of the clouds a huge roc appears, clutching something in its talons
  • It drops this thing amongst the trees before taking off again
  • The Roc has dropped a clutch full of human corpses
  • Standing in the middle of the clearing is a tall woman who appears frozen through
  • She kneels down and touches one of the corpses, and immediately the blue light appears within its eyes
  • Before Resda can leave the woman stands up and looks right at her
• As she gets back the lights begin to move in our direction
• We hurry off towards Dougan's Hole. It's a small town, too small to support any industry
• The lake is frozen. It's evening on the 3rd of Elient
• Some of the locals tell us about their wolf problem
  • They can talk, have a vocabulary
  • They took two children
  • They aren't giving them back until they get a King's ransom in food and gold
• I ask if there is any place we might stay. They suggest talking to the town speaker Edgra Durmoot. I head toward the speaker's house
• She senses we may be there to deal with the wolves, and says she will not pay them or feed them.
• She says a man reported seeing a woman with two children in the woods, but she didn't believe him. He is Old Bainsworth but he's out on the trap and probably won't be found for some days
• She says she can offer us a fire and little else. I thank her and offer her some of my rations and a geode I have been carrying since Termalaine
• Resda looks out the window and sees a storm is picking up and snow is coming down heavily
• Saralas is agitated. We rest for the night. I do not dream.
• We find Hoot outside. As he flies off he drops a feather, which Resda runs to pick up. It is magical.
• It is the morning of the 4th of Elient. We try to head out of town towards where we last found Elodie.
• The speaker asks what we will do about the wolves and Karthos says "we will take care of it"
• We head out of Dougan's Hole and begin our journey. We head in the direction of the cabin we last found Elodie out at.
• After long and careful travel, and even after Saralas beings to doubt his direction finding, we do arrive at the cabin. It is as we remember from the last time around, still shrouded by the field.
• I knock on the door. Elodie opens the door, runs out and hugs Saralas. He struggles to remain standing.
• She says she has been here several weeks, and invites us in
• The cabin looks like it was just built yesterday, it's just like before
• The timeline feels off though
• She tells the same story about the magic shelter box as before
• She arrived in the Ten Towns in Bryn Shander first as that was the first town on the main road, and thought she would be able to find me quickly, but couldn't. She headed to Easthaven since it was the biggest town in the area but she was robbed there. When she got the message she sent back and headed immediately back to the cabin

• We heard rumors of her in Targos as well. She had headed there too, didn't like the speaker
• She also relays that the reason she came looking is that the winter is creeping south and she is concerned for Neverwinter
• She says Mika and Aestos were called south to deal with a disturbance to the south
• Mika was a home builder, but now he builds catapults
• She relays the issue with the box that keeps this place hidden. She has been seeing the undead
• She brings out a journal, she has been making drawings of the ten towns, but also the monsters
• She thinks they are the townspeople turned undead
• She mentioned some of Auril's cult. Outside of Easthaven in the woods she met a woman names Entris who was a druid living off the forest
  • She seemed nice and friendly
  • As time wore on she realized Entris was a follower of Auril
  • She was a druid witch who had been thrown out of town for too openly supporting Auril
• She asks if we have any magical items to help keep the field up
• I hand over the gray bag of tricks. She feeds it to the box, which sounds satisfied
• Korag sends a message to Wodna, suggests we meet near the entrance to the underdark that we used the next day.
• We then settle in, setting watches for the night but otherwise sleeping well
• Saralas rests comfortably being so near his family
• Morning of 5 Elient
• We plan to head out and meet up with Wodna. Elodie asks us to look for more magical items to feed to the box.
